March 13, 2014): The  Florida Supreme Court struck down  caps on non-economic damages set forth in §766.118, as violating of the right to equal protection under Article I, Section 2, of the Florida Constitution. Brooke Melton’s 2005 Chevy Cobalt crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle in March 2010. On a rainy night in March 2012 when her car lost power and she lost control Melton, who was wearing a seat belt, crossed the center line on the two-lane road and collided with another vehicle at 58 miles per hour. Bike Week – Daytona Beach Pedestrian Accidents

The driver of a Honda pickup truck that hit three pedestrians outside a popular Bike Week venue along U.S. 1 in Ormond Beach was arrested for DUI. Troopers said Eunice Cich, 52, of Toronto, Ohio, was arrested on DUI charges on Wednesday March 3, 2014. According to troopers, Cich was given a Breathalyzer test at the jail three hours after the accident. They said she blew a .104 in the test. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
